Galvanize Phoenix

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Size: 55,000 SF

Galvanize Phoenix is located in the city's Warehouse District and home to one of the most saturated markets for software jobs in the country.  This previously abandoned three-story property was originally built in 1946 as a grocery distribution warehouse and has been revitalized to house a combination of coworking space, coding bootcamps and events to support the region's ever growing tech ecosystem.  Based on Galvanize's business model, the space boasts ample open shared areas, dedicated workspace and suites, a variety of collaboration spaces and multipurpose classrooms.  A 242-person enclosed amphitheater and open space plywood bleachers satisfy the need for highly functional and flexible event spaces on campus.  Communal pantries sit in close proximity to further support their flexibility.  Operable glass garage doors line the north and west faces of the building, allowing for abundant natural light and fresh air year round.  Due to the open steel structure above and surrounding original brick exterior, careful consideration was given to acoustics through the use of multiple acoustic clouds, panels and dividers.  Given the natural beauty of the existing shell, the overall design embraces the exposed structure and celebrates the building's inherent character through the use of warm, natural and raw materials.
