Galvanize New York
Location: New York City, NY
Size: 55,000 SF
Located in one of the most iconic cities in the world is Galvanize New York's two-story campus in West SoHo. This Neo-classical property dating back to 1896 was originally occupied by Heide Candy Company and was most recently gutted and renovated to house tech start ups, venture capitalists and developers in this tech driven ecosystem. A storefront cafe newly converted from a loading bay welcomes both the public and members into the space. Leading upstairs, members are encouraged to build community in the multiple pantries, lounge areas, game rooms and open work spaces. When privacy is required, members can retreat to personal nooks, huddle caves, phone booths, meeting rooms and private office suites. Open areas and classrooms can easily be reconfigured to host a variety of events through mobile partitions, flexible furniture and integrated A/V equipment. Indicative of the city's culture, the space is full of energy and celebrates a mix of color, pattern, texture and visual graphics. Integrating Galvanize and NYC together, the main community space provides a series of semi-enclosed booths showcasing the word 'LEARN', something key to Galvanize's mission that also mimics the style of the corresponding subway transit lines. Similar details are incorporated throughout as a nod to the local culture.
